Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce is a newly incorporated non-profit corporation committed to building an inclusive and welcoming Grey Bruce where differences are celebrated and no one is left behind.
The Board of Directors is holding a Launch and Lunch Event on February 19, 2020 to provide the community with an opportunity to meet the board members and learn about this exciting new organization. We will also present preliminary findings from a community consultation with newcomers, employers and employment services from the Rural Pathways to Employment for Newcomer Women. This is a 17-month pilot project with Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce, in partnership with United Way Bruce Grey.
Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce (WCGB) will:
· Work to raise public awareness on how we can build an inclusive and welcoming community,
· Inform organizations, businesses, community members, government and leadership on how they can address systemic barriers to inclusion, racism and cultural biases and inequity,
· Hold organizations, businesses, community members, government and leadership accountable for addressing systemic barriers that continue to exist in our region,
· Facilitate networking, collaboration and partnerships among community partners to work and learn together with people with experience,
· And work to establish inclusive best practices for welcoming and inclusive communities throughout the region.
The Board of Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce is comprised of: Donald Anderson, Waleed Aslam, Nicholas Forrester, David Morris, Colleen Purdon, Manpreet Sangha and Muna Shrestha.
