During the 40 day season of Lent the local Granottier Council, Knights of Columbus challenge all to sacrifice and help others by donating One Can or package of non perishable food or $1 cash per day to the our local food kitchens and food banks.
This program is inspired by Christ’s 40 days of fasting in the desert.
Whether you observe Lent or not, donating is a great way to serve others in our community who are in need.
One doesn’t need to donate all “40 cans”, 1 can helps someone.
Cash Donations and Cans of Food may be dropped off at our Lenten “Kick Off” Chili Supper on Saturday Feb 29th at 6.30 p.m. in The Columbus Centre, 770 6th St East, Owen Sound or anytime during Lent at St Mary’s Church, Owen Sound.
Canned goods will be distributed to the needy and local Food Banks and Pantries through:
St. Mary’s Catholic Charities.
Cash Donations will given to OSHaRE and Safe ‘n Sound, with a portion going to the Wiarton, Chatsworth and Meaford area Food Banks for those in need. ( please indicate your choice)
Tickets ($10 adults, $5 Children) for the “Chili Supper” are still available after Masses this weekend at St Mary’s Owen Sound or by phoning or emailing me ( Jim ) at 519-371-9878 [email protected]
