mothers dayMother’s day will have a different feel this year. Public Health strongly recommends that groups do not come together and visit to stop the potential spread of COVID-19. Remember, social gatherings with 5 or more people, outside of your immediate household, are not permitted based on an emergency order from the Province of Ontario. Gathering with anyone outside of your household, even if there are 5 people or less, is not recommended.

Try these tips or share your own ideas to celebrate Mother’s Day – if you do not live with your mother.

  • Connect with your family through phone and internet.
  • Send an e-card.
  • Write a letter.
  • Call or video chat.
  • Have an online brunch or dinner party.
  • Start a new tradition this Mother’s Day.
  • Show your love and appreciation by adjusting traditions to stay home and practice physical distancing.
  • Go for a walk or bike ride with your household.
  • Practice physical distancing, even when you are outdoors.
  • Make a new recipe at home.

Remember, those over the age of 65 are at higher risk from COVID-19.

Let your mother know she is special with a COVID-free gift! Stay home, and say I love you – no other gift can replace caring for our mothers!
