The ‘Swing Your Sticks for Charity’ Committee is proud to make a large donation to the local Salvation Army Food Bank. The donation was a combined effort from money raised at last year’s tournament, donations from committee members and friends, and the assistance of Bill and Elizabeth Graham from Foodland. This goes directly to help fill the urgent need of local families during this unprecedented time.
The Charity Committee, which organizes the annual ‘Swing Your Sticks for Charity’ Golf Tournament, has supported causes in the Grey Bruce region for the past 29 years, including the Grey Bruce Paraplegic Association, the Community Foundation of Grey Bruce, GRACE (Georgian Riding Association for Challenged Equestrians) and REACH, as well as many individual emergency grants.
While it is unclear if the 29th Annual ‘Swing Your Sticks for Charity’ Golf Tournament will go ahead as scheduled on September 11th, 2020, the committee will continue their charity efforts within our community. They would like to thank all their sponsors and community partners for their continued support through the years, as well as Avenue A Advertising for their assistance supporting this endeavour.
Swing Your Sticks for Charity has been supporting charities in the Grey Bruce region since their first golf tournament in 1991 in support of a young man with a spinal cord injury. In 2007, the committee established an endowment fund at Community Foundation Grey Bruce, which continues to benefit charities throughout our area.
