Grey Bruce Grad 2020On Wednesday, June 24th at 7:00 p.m., Grey and Bruce counties are inviting all residents and graduates to make history with a collective at-home graduation celebration.

This regional celebration compliments the virtual graduation ceremonies planned by many schools in the area. Together we will celebrate everyone graduating this year including graduates of kindergarten, grade 8, grade 12, university, college, adult education, childcare, and students moving up to the next level. The public can highlight graduating students in their home communities by using the hashtag #GreyBruceGrad2020 on social media to spread the word of all at-home and virtual celebrations on the evening of June 24.

Grey Roots Museum and Archives and the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre will be capturing this historical moment by saving posts with the #GreyBruceGrad2020 hashtag. The photos, videos and artwork from these posts will be used in future displays to honour the graduates of 2020 and will allow us to celebrate apart until we can once again celebrate together. To have your post included in the display,, make sure your post has public privacy settings.

Residents of both counties can participate and spread cheer leading up to June 24 by displaying the Grey Bruce Grad 2020 printable poster in their front window. It is available to download for free on the Grey and Bruce County websites. Businesses and community groups are also encouraged to add congratulatory messages to their electronic and customizable signs.

At 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, people from around the community can help celebrate by making noise from front yards and balconies (banging pots and pans, cheering, blowing whistles, etc.). Photos of celebrations and pictures with graduations can be shared on social media with the #GreyBruceGrad2020 hashtag.

Local emergency services will also be asked to sound their sirens and flash their lights around Bruce and Grey.

Graduates can enjoy the celebration on the front lawn or sidewalks of their homes.

Visit www.Grey.ca or www.BruceCounty.on.ca to learn more, download Grey Bruce Grad 2020 materials, and to share your experiences from this historical moment.
