As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, I would like to take this opportunity to give thanks on behalf of Bluewater District School Board.
I am thankful for our students, parents/guardians, and families who have endured many changes and alternating plans in our public education system over the past several months. Whether you are involved in remote or in-person learning, I appreciate all your patience, understanding, and cooperation in adhering to new protocols to keep our schools and communities safe.
I am thankful for our staff across Bluewater, each of whom fills a vital position in moving us toward our collective board mission “to provide a quality education for every student in a safe, accepting, and caring environment.” This ‘new normal’ has been an interesting ride, and I am so appreciative of everything you are doing to make this school year a positive experience for the students and families we serve.
I am thankful for our trustees, my senior leadership colleagues, and the staff who support me daily in my role as Director of Education. Your trust, faith, and guidance are imperative to the decisions that impact our operations.
I am thankful for our partners, who include local community organizations, our employee groups, education sector peers and representatives, and media. Your collaborative partnership plays a very important part in helping to keep our communities safe, informed, and equipped with the necessary resources and support during these challenging times.
Despite the current restrictions in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, I am thankful to live in a region with a relatively low case count, and I am hopeful that this positive narrative will continue.
Recognizing that Thanksgiving may be a bit scaled back this year, I nevertheless hope that it is a memorable, relaxing, and truly enjoyable occasion that allows you to give thanks to those with whom you are closest.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Lori Wilder
