We learned today that scammers are using the Riverside Yarns phone number to reach people in the Owen Sound area. Our store name and phone number showed up on the caller ID of a resident here, who just so happens to be a customer of ours. When she answered, she was subjected to a recorded message claiming to be from the Canadian Revenue Agency.

We want you to know that we only call our customers to answer queries and to follow up on special orders and package pick-up. We would never use a voice recorded message, and we would never ask for your personal information.

Scam artists spoof local numbers and information into caller ID systems in the hopes that their calls will look familiar enough and that someone will answer. If you are concerned that a call from Riverside Yarns is a scam, don’t answer. We are more than happy to leave a message!
