The city wide food drive for OSHARE, The Salvation Army and the Owen Sound Animal Shelter is going strong.
Last week the food drive kicked off with Keppel Sarawak and Hillcrest teaming up against East Ridge and Alexandra School. Each donation is worth a specific amount of points and those points are added up by each school and then averaged out at the end of the food drive. Cash donations are also being accepted on School Cash Online and students will earn points for these donations as well.
Currently, Keppel and Hillcrest have 21,054 points with an average of 25.5 points per student and Alexandra and East Ridge have a combined total of 17,031 with a 16.7 point average per student.
This Thursday is a bonus point day when canned fruit and apple sauce are worth double the points. These items are desperately needed by both charities at this time. Thursday April 1st is another double point day with cookies bringing in double points for each of the schools.
The food drive will continue until Thursday April 1st, however donations will be accepted on the following Tuesday if donated.
Residents are encouraged to help out a school by donating food or cash donations.
