The Province of Ontario is still under a state of emergency and has issued a stay-at-home Order. This comes in the wake of an emergency brake enacted by the Province effective April 3, 2021.
At this critical time, the Town of South Bruce Peninsula can’t stress enough the importance of staying home and avoiding all travel except that which is absolutely necessary. If you choose to come to your seasonal residence, please plan to stay here at least until the Order has been lifted. It is important that we do not travel between Health Unit areas.
The Province has banned short term rentals except for those who have no other available housing. We remind those who rent to be aware of this Order as the Provincial fines are steep.
Town facilities will not be rented at this time. Town recreation programs are cancelled until further notice.
Council meetings will be held as usual at this time however members of the public are reminded that if you do plan to attend, you will be sitting in a public gallery; due to the requirement for physical distancing, spaces are limited. You can listen to Council meeting recordings by visiting the Town website. People wishing to be scheduled as delegations may be required to postpone non-emergency and informational delegations to future meeting dates, at the discretion of the Mayor and Clerk.
Members of the public are being asked to limit visits to Town Hall. Please only attend Town Hall if absolutely necessary and are reminded that taxes can be paid on-line or by mail or can be dropped off in the after-hours mailbox at Town Hall (George Street entrance). Call us for information.
We will continue to monitor the situation however, the above measures will continue to be in place until further notice.
The Ontario Provincial Police enforces Provincial regulations and orders. Please contact them at their non-emergency number (1-888-310-1122) if you believe that people are violating the current requirements.
We are all in this together so please be kind to one another. The third wave of COVID19 is here and we are told that there are more people sick and in hospital than in the previous waves. That is why it is absolutely necessary to follow all Ontario and Public Health guidelines and orders. We thank everyone for your patience and understanding during this time.
