We use Statistics Canada data at the Owen Sound Hub multiple times a week. It is one of the sources we use to keep you informed with the most accurate information we can find.
The 2021 Canadian Census is still ongoing in Owen Sound. If you have completed your census questionnaire online, on the phone, or with an enumerator at your door – thank you!
Census information will be used by municipalities, provincial and federal governments to identify changing demographics and help determine our future needs for health, education and social services.
As a city, Owen Sound qualifies for different grants and supports based on our population, age, and income and employment rates, so every response counts.
If you do not have a secure access code to complete your 2021 Census questionnaire, contact the Census Help Line at 1-855-340-2021, available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday (8:30 to 4:30 on weekends) or do it with an enumerator when they call or visit. Any census enumerator will be wearing an identification tag, and will be prepared to provide you with their Census Employee number.
There is lots more information about the census and answers to frequently asked questions about how your information is used and protected at the Statistics Canada website. Interesting graphics with “bites” of Canadian data on everything from Covid-screening and employment to basketball and chocolate imports are on the Statistics Canada Facebook and Twitter accounts.
