“It's time to come back to the movies,” says Jon Mulder General Manager of Owen Sound's Galaxy Cinema. After a long hard stretch for everybody, Jon says they are “over the moon with joy” that that they are able to welcome people back to the theatre experience they love.
The theatre re-opens today with something for action fans to families. Scarlett Johansson in spy-thriller Black Widow, from the Marvel comic of the same name. The Fast and Furious saga continues with Vin Diesel in F9. Twenty-five years after the original, Space Jam has been re-booted with Lebron James. And the Boss Baby is back – in the Family Business.
Every seat in the theatre will be reserved – assigned a row and a seat. Whether you book your ticket on-line or buy it at the theatre, the system builds a two-metre bubble around your seat. Coming with your kids or a date? “You can book up to five seats together with the same bubble around you,” says Jon, "So you don't need really long arms to share popcorn!”
Social distancing will be observed in any line-ups, and everyone who comes through the door will be expected to wear a mask out of courtesy for the safety of both guests and staff.
Too hot? The theatre is just the right kind of cool. Plans rained out? Off to the movies!
(And are you as curious about Jon's tie as I was? There's a story in that!)
