Catapult Grey Bruce is pleased to announce Mia Toose and Jackie Smalec were elected to the board of directors at the organization’s first annual general meeting (AGM) held in-person and virtually from Sydenham Campus Skilled Trades, Training and Innovation Center in Owen Sound on August 4.
Catapult Grey Bruce is a not-for-profit organization committed to creating a dynamic and thriving entrepreneurship ecosystem in Grey Bruce. Founded by local entrepreneurs, Catapult Grey Bruce strongly believes in collaboration, mentorship, and community, with a mission to empower established entrepreneurs with connections, knowledge and space to take their business to the next level.
“Mentorship and community are two of Catapult’s core beliefs and we are thrilled to welcome our new directors who share these values,” said Courtney Denard, Catapult Grey Bruce chairperson. “ie and Mia’s experience with not-for-profits, combined with their professional and entrepreneurial endeavours and familiarity with our programs, will be a tremendous resource as Catapult Grey Bruce continues to grow.”
The board also elected the executive for the coming year. Courtney Denard was re-elected chairperson, Toose was elected vice-chairperson, and Mike Comello was re-elected treasurer. Ben Kirkconnell and Courtney Miller round out the board.
Also during the AGM, Executive Director Jennifer Christie highlighted the organization's accomplishments in its first eighteen months of operations and recognized volunteers, donors, and funders for their support.
In its quest to become a healthy, sustainable not-for-profit organization, Catapult will be hosting its first fundraising golf tournament on Saturday, August 14 at Stone Tree in Owen Sound. Local entrepreneurs and members of the Catapult team will come together for an afternoon of golf, networking and fun. Tee times starting at 1:00 p.m. All proceeds will go towards programming that supports businesses in the Grey Bruce region.
