The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is offering free memberships to the youngest members of our community starting September 1st. Parents, grandparents, and guardians with an adult or senior membership are welcome to bring their infants and toddlers under three years of age to the Health, Fitness & Aquatics facility for free!
Carrie Saunders-Willis, Manager; Human Resources, Health, Fitness & Aquatics, said “After a challenging and uncertain year, we are excited about this change! By offering programs and services free to our youngest members we hope to encourage more parents and families to come back to our Y and engage in healthy activities. Movement and exercise has been proven to have a profound positive impact on physical and
mental health at any age. Being active as a family is a great way to teach children to love moving. It’s a skill that lasts a lifetime.”
Kids under three will be able to participate in Parent N’Tot swim lessons, open and Family Fun swim times, Family Fun in the gymnasium, enjoy a stroller walk on the Walking Track, and more! Our Stay N’Play babysitting service is also back allowing parents/guardians to drop off their children ages 0-5 while they take a fitness class, enjoy the pool or workout in the Fitness Centre.
“The Fall is a busy time at our Y and we’re thrilled that we’re able to offer more programming for families this year. Since the beginning of the pandemic the safety of our members and staff has been a top priority, so all our members can still expect to see increased cleaning, physical distancing in place, and mask wearing among other safety measures.” said Carrie Saunders-Willis.
Existing membership payments for children under three will automatically stop on September 1, 2021. Parents and guardians wishing to bring their children under three to the Y will need to set up a new membership for the child but there will be no cost associated with the membership.
Visit our Welcome Desk or call 519-376-0484 ext. 0 to learn more about membership and set up an online booking account through Active NET to book activities and programs.
