Dr Rochagné Kilian has offered an apology to her supporters on a crowdfunding site for a "bona fide mistake" in offering to accept interest-free loans for her proposed private health care facility through the site.
Here is her apology, found in Updates on the site. (Thank you to an attentive reader.)
"Crowdfund.ca contacted me and instructed us that we have briefly breached Crowdfund.ca's guidelines. I quote:
"Rewards can be used to offer products, services, subscriptions and memberships for example, but they can not be used for loans or equity."
We apologise to both our supporters and to Crowdfund.ca. This mistake was a bona fide mistake and we will correct same immediately. For those that have committed funds towards the project, with the understanding that we will repay the interest-free loan amount, kindly contact us.
For transparency, I provide you with a screenshot of the email forwarded to us by Crowdfund.ca.
Sincerely yours.
Dr Rochagné Kilian"
The email explains that Crowdfunder cannot be used for loans, and anyone who pledged under that "reward" will be refunded by the company in the next 24 hours. As of this writing Wednesday evening, both the loan and donation options are offered, and the video pitch for loans has not been altered.
Although the page says "This project offers rewards in return for your donation", this statement is followed by another - "We regret that we do not offer any rewards at this moment, due to the urgency of this project. Depending on the amount we will be raising, this may still change in the future."
The UK based site says this project will receive all pledges made by 12th November 2021 at 6:18pm Greenwich Mean Time.
