As a proactive step, if we would have to move to remote learning after the Christmas Break, we ask students from grades 4-12 to take home their Chromebooks. In the event of a school closure in the New Year, we will work quickly to distribute devices to students in grades K-3 as this does require some support from our IT department.
Given the increase in Covid-19 cases locally and provincially, the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board is only implementing this as a proactive measure . If the landscape were to change, we would move seamlessly forward as we are a 1:1 technology board. That is, we have one device available for each student within our board.
The Ministry of Education and Grey-Bruce Public Health have not indicated that they anticipate schools being closed after the Christmas break.
If we were to hear anything about school closures in our area after the Christmas Break, we will let you know as soon as possible. We will communicate with you via your regular school communication channels and the Bruce-Grey CDSB website, as well as our social media feeds. We also encourage you to have your children bring home their belongings that they may need in the event of a school closure period after our Christmas break.
Thanks for your patience and understanding as we navigate this increase in Covid-19 cases as we move into the Christmas holidays. May the gifts of hope, faith, joy and peace fill your homes and renew you and your family this Christmas season.
Be Safe and Be Well.
God Bless,
Gary O ‘Donnell
