While Grey Bruce Public Health is still sending us daily numbers of new Covid-19 cases, they have become less significant as testing protocols changed for the general public earlier this month due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant taxing assessment and lab resources.

As of January 1, the Public Health Situation Report noted a cumulative total of 128 health care workers had tested positive with Covid-19 since counting began in 2020. As of today, that number is 206 cases reported in health care workers living in Grey Bruce and working both in and outside Grey Bruce – an increase of 78 positive cases in the past 10 days.

The Owen Sound hospital site of Grey Bruce Health Services still has an outbreak of Covid-19 on 6-2, a medical unit.

10 Long-Term Care and Retirement residences are on outbreak with Covid-19 – that is one or more confirmed cases among staff and/or residents. This includes all three Grey County-run homes, and Maple View in Owen Sound, where 22 of the 29 residents and 15 staff tested positive over the month of April, 2020.

7 local people with confirmed cases of Covid-19 are hospitalized, and another 2 Grey-Bruce residents are currently hospitalized outside of Grey Bruce due to COVID-19.
