Bruce County is pleased to announce the appointment of Derrick Thomson as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective April 18, 2022.
Mr. Thomson is an experienced and innovative municipal leader with more than 30 years of experience in community-building, change management, budget administration, strategic planning, and innovation.
As the former Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Minto and the City of Guelph, Derrick has been responsible for the daily operation of fast-growing Ontario municipalities and their diverse teams and services. Derrick also served as Chief Executive Officer for Guelph Municipal Holdings Inc.—a corporation focused on public asset management in support of municipal innovation, revenue generation, and community prosperity.
Derrick also built valuable leadership experience in past roles as the Executive Director for Community and Social Services with the City of Guelph, Chief Administrative Officer for the Township of West Lincoln, and Manager of Business Services for the City of Brampton.
