This past week, bowlers took to the lanes in support of the over 125 children and youth Big Brothers Big Sisters Grey Bruce (BBBSGB) serves. The 42nd annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event was bigger than ever, welcoming 35 teams with lanes in three locations: The Bowling Alley in Owen Sound, Sunset Family Fun Centre in Port Elgin and Georgian Bowl in Collingwood. The support from the community was tremendous!
Our motto at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey Bruce is “we are BiggerTogether” and this year we proved just that. With the help of participants, those who pledged and donated, we raised over $29,000! With some funds still rolling in, we hope to reach our $30,000 goal.
A special thanks to our event sponsor Bruce Power and our sponsors Bayshore Broadcasting and Rogers TV. It takes a small village to run this event every year and we are so thankful you are a part of it.
The BBBSGB staff and board thank everyone who was involved this year and who helped make this Bowl For Kids’ Sake event a success! We are so grateful for the commitment and belief our supporters have in investing in the lives of young people in our community. Thank you for helping us be BiggerTogether!
Finally, a big congratulations to the highest pledged team, Richard’s No Frills of Owen Sound, who raised over $4,500! Jim Reid, a long -time supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey Bruce, was the highest fundraiser, raising over $3,584! Honourable mention to Vicky Hicks of Owen Sound who raised $3,295, Mark Perry of Owen Sound who raised 2,335 and Kevin Woolham of Collingwood who raised 1,025. Outstanding job! Thank you all for your incredible campaign efforts!
All proceeds from the BFKS event will allow us to continue to offer our no-cost mentoring programs, including both our in-school mentoring programs and community-based programs to families throughout Grey and Bruce Counties. With these funds, we will continue to reach more children and youth, creating life-long relationships and sparking potential.
