Almost 8 Years ago on May 9, 2014 when I first announced that I was going to seek election to municipal council, I did so because I wanted to bring about change in how we did municipal politics. Four years ago, I ran to be the Deputy Mayor because I wanted to change the type of leadership at Grey Highlands council. It is time, once again, for change. For new ideas, a different type of leadership, and fresh faces around the table. I want to announce that I will not be seeking re-election to Grey Highlands Council in this October’s elections.

This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, but over the past eight years I have never shied away from making the tough decisions. And I wasn’t about to start shying away from them now. These past eight years will always remain close to my heart. I hope to remain a positive voice in our community through volunteering with various organisations working to make Grey Highlands a better place.

I make this decision without any regrets and my head held high. For the first time since I became a Canadian citizen I will be on the constituent side of a municipal election. I am excited to hear from candidates who will run to form the next council. I remain committed to finishing my term serving this great municipality.

Thank you to the people of Grey Highlands for your faith in me over the two terms. It has been an honour to have had the opportunity to serve you.
