At 5:37pm Sunday June 26th Owen Sound Fire crews responded to the report of an explosion at 923 8th Ave West. Upon arrival at the 2 unit residential building, both units were on fire. Significant fire was present in the common roof area.

The fire was brought under control quickly. Inter-township Fire assisted Owen Sound Fire crews with overhaul.

Both units of the building were occupied by a single occupant. Bruce/Grey/Perth Victim services attended the scene and provided assitance to the 2 residents of the building.

The building experienced extensive damage. Damage to both units is approximately $600,000. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
