Water Samples taken at Kelso Beach show results within acceptable levels according to Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care standards.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit took samples on Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Based on these results, the beach, which was posted as unsafe on August 4, 2015 is now deemed safe for bathing.

Beach water sampling from Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Port Elgin Main Beach and Gobles Grove showed levels exceeding Ministry of Health and Long-term Care standards for acceptable bacterial levels. More recent tests showed levels within acceptable limits.

Although this latest sample shows acceptable results, the public is reminded that water conditions can change quickly. High winds and heavy rain are likely to have an adverse impact on water quality.

The Medical Officer of Health advises bathers that high levels of bacteria in the water may pose a risk to their health.
