OSHaRE staff, board and volunteers are thrilled with the community's response to the facility's annual fundraising walk:

Throughout the last nine and a half years at OSHaRE, we have watched as our community has come together to provide meals for their neighbours. When we were short on non-perishables, the community came together to do food drives and restock our shelves. When garden season came, our fridges would be full with beautiful produce from individual and community gardens. When the pandemic started and our meal numbers began to increase, the community came together to meet the increased need of our guests.

In 2022 with rising cost of food/supplies and the need in the community continuing to increase, we were hoping to have a successful fundraising walk to help us to continue to meet the need in the year ahead. And once again our community showed up to make sure that hot nutritious meals are available for anyone who needs them in their community.

On Friday Sept. 23, and in the week that followed, over 65 individuals walked five kilometres for OSHaRE. Together with over 600 small businesses, churches, community groups and individual donors they raised over $395,000 to support the meals being served to individuals and families at OSHaRE.

The staff, board, and volunteers of OSHaRE are completely overwhelmed by the support and would like to say a huge thank you to all the walkers, donors, and sponsors. “Thank you for helping us to share at OSHaRE, we could not meet the increased need in the community without our individual and business support!”

We would like to thank our walk sponsors, Barry’s Construction and Mane Street Hair Salon, for all their support covering the costs of the walk so that every dollar raised goes to support the community. Thank you to the staff and management at Starbucks for donating drinks and treats for all our walk participants.
