Bluewater District School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Wendy Louwerse to the position of Superintendent of Education effective September 1, 2023.  

The vacancy for a superintendent of education position was created due to the upcoming retirement of Superintendent of Education Andrea Tang. 

Wendy grew up in Caledon but has spent over 34 years as a resident of Grey County.  With a previous occupation in publication design, she began her teaching career at Osprey Central School in 2002.  Subsequent teaching positions included the former Durham District Community and Spruce Ridge Community schools, prior to assuming administrative positions as a system curriculum lead teacher, vice-principal at Arran-Tara Elementary School, and principal at Chesley District Community School.  Most recently, she has held the system role of Learning Services Administrator with a focus on curriculum, early reading, mathematics, supporting new teachers, and board leadership.  Wendy has a keen interest in the effective integration of technology and science.   

I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the students, their families, and the staff of Bluewater District School Board,” says Louwerse.  “I am passionate about providing the best learning experiences for all our students and working together with staff to provide quality instruction in our schools.  With a variety of experience and background, I look forward to supporting students and schools through my contributions to the senior team.”

In her new position, Wendy will provide leadership and support to an area of schools within Bluewater District School Board, while also managing a broad portfolio of system duties.
