Protesters of all stripes – young veterans and newbie pensioners alike – came to Markdale Thursday to let Ontario's Premier know how they feel.
And according to the signs they brought, no one's feeling all that well about Doug Ford's administration of Ontario.
More than 170 demonstrators of all ages drew honks and cheers along Highway 10 as it drops out of town.
The premier and other dignitaries were in Grey County performing a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Markdale hospital, operated by the recently rebranded Brightshores Health System, formerly known as Grey Bruce Health Services.
Hub staffers flipped a coin – Ms.Finlay-Stewart was pleased to accompany the Premier in the hospital while photographer David Galway, despite a vague family relationship with Mr. Ford, was happy to remain with the protesters although Mr. Ford is the first premier of Ontario since John Robarts that Galway claims he hasn't had an opportunity to photograph.
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign. Thank you, Doug, for thinkin' 'bout us – but really, we're not doin' fine. |

Handmade signs show the breadth of concern about the direction the Conservative administration is forcing the province to travel. |
Demonstrators show all levels of emotion and engagement. |
David Meslin, above, thanks the assembled for taking the time and effort to show Premier Doug Ford all is not well in his jurisdiction. Mr. Meslin said he was expecting perhaps 40 people might show up, and was nearly speechless when more than 170 citizens answered his call for protest and demonstration. |
