Congratulations to former OSCVI student Melanie Pledger who has been chosen as a recipient of the Lieutenant Governor's Ontario Heritage Award for Youth Achievement and the Young Heritage Leaders Scholarship.

- Researching local servicemen including Private Donald Moore who served with the First Special Service Forces overseas and was killed in action during the Second World War. Her work was subsequently published in the Sun Times.
- Her collaborative effort with other students on the Minnie Wright Letters which documented both the war and homefronts during the Great War
- Her co-operative studies placement at Bishop Home Museum, Archives and National Historic Site in which she curated an exhibit on Private Arthur Mackey who was ultimately killed during the 100 Day Campaign of the First World War
- Volunteering at Bishop Home's Digital Preservation Day to help digitize primary source documents brought in by local citizens
