Members of the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are warning motorists coming into the area this summer to expect zero tolerance as it pertains to speeding on rural roads. This warning comes on the heels of another fatal motor vehicle collision this past weekend. "Speeds in excess of 150 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone are quite regular and unwelcome." – Detachment Commander Staff Sgt. Thompson.
With the onslaught of vacationers heading north toward vacation destinations, Bruce Peninsula officers have noticed a number of drivers with a careless regard for the speed limits on area highways. Other infractions include aggressive driving such as; following too close, passing on solid lines and incidents of road rage.
The OPP remind all motorists that the 4 Causal Factors of injury and death on highways remain; Distracted Driving, Impaired Driving, Aggressive Driving and Failure to Wear Seat Belts.
