On August 13, 2016, Andrew FitzGerald of Nova Scotia, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces went missing while in Owen Sound. An extensive investigation and search was conducted by the members of the Owen Sound Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police and the Canadian Armed Forces. On August 18, 2016, the body of Andrew FitzGerald was located near the shore in the waters of Owen Sound. The investigation into this incident is concluded. There is no foul play suspected in the death of Andrew FitzGerald and there will be no further comment regarding this investigation.
