On Friday 26 August 2016 at approximately 11:30pm the Owen Sound Police responded to a report of an impaired driver at the entrance of Georgian Shores Marina located at 195 24th Street West Owen Sound. A parking attendant had contacted police with information regarding the suspected impaired driver.
Police investigated a 46 year old male from Trenton Ontario who was occupying the driver's seat of a motor vehicle. The male failed a road side test and was arrested on reasonable and probable grounds for having care and control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol exceeded 80 mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. Subsequent breath tests confirmed the male's blood alcohol was actually twice the legal limit.
The male was charged with having care and control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol exceeded 80 mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
The vehicle was impounded for 7 days and a 90 day administrative drivers licence suspension.
The male was released from custody with a September 15, 2016 court date.
