On Monday September 19, the Owen Sound Police Service began a traffic enforcement campaign that focuses on distracted driving, failure to obey traffic signs and non-compliance by heavy trucks driving on roads where a prohibition exists. The purpose of the campaign is to enforce violations of driving laws with a goal to enhance public education and road safety.
Over the last two days a total of seventeen (17) charges have been laid for drivers who have committed the following infractions:
Speeding
Fail to stop- Red light
Disobey sign
Failing to wear seatbelt
Distracted driving
Failing to display front licence plate
Safety on our city roadways is a shared responsibility by all drivers. The campaign will run until Friday September 30.
