Sometime between 9:30 PM on Thursday July 3rd and 6:30 AM Friday July 4th, a 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck was stolen from the west side.

The truck had been parked in the 300 block of 22nd Street West. A spare set of keys had been left in the vehicle. The owner discovered the truck missing in the morning and reported it to police.

At approximately 10:40 am the truck was found burning in the extension of the 2100 block of 6th Avenue East. The Owen Sound Fire Department attended and extinguished the fire, which had obviously been deliberately set.

The truck was destroyed in the incident. Officers from the Forensic Identification Unit attended and examined the vehicle.

The truck was burned in an area adjacent to a housing complex and many people were in the area at the time of the recovery. Anyone with any information regarding the theft or arson is asked to contact the Owen Sound Police Service.
