Police are searching for two guns - one stolen and one lost.
On November 27, 2016 at approximately 7:41 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police investigated the theft of a firearm from a parked vehicle on Burton Street in the Municipality of Meaford. The firearm, described as a Thompson Center Impact, 50 caliber, black powder muzzle loader rifle, equipped with a scope, was stolen from a locked GMC Sierra pick-up truck sometime between Saturday night, November 26th and early Sunday, November 27th.
The firearm which had a camo-synthetic stock was in a green gun sock with "Lake Huron Rod & Gun" written on it. Several primer caps and a box of Pyrodex pre-formed black powder were also taken. Police are asking the public's assistance in locating this firearm.
On November 26, 2016 at approximately 5:26 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a lost firearm in the vicinity of Sideroad 25 between Grey Rd. 112 and the 11th Line in the Municipality of Meaford. The firearm, described as a Traditions, 50 caliber, black powder Buck Stalker rifle, equipped with a Bushnell scope, was inside a soft camo pattern rifle case. The firearm was lost after the owner had left it on top of the tonneau cover of his pickup truck and inadvertently drove away. Police were notified after the owner had returned to the area in an effort to locate the firearm without success.
