Bluewater District School Board held elections for the chair and vice-chair trustee positions as part of the Initial Meeting of the Board on December 20, 2016.

Ron Motz, Trustee for the Municipality of West Grey/Town of Hanover, was acclaimed as Chair for a third term. Also acclaimed was Jan Johnstone, Trustee for the Municipality of Kincardine/Township of Huron-Kinloss, who continues as Vice-Chair for a second term.

"I am humbled by the confidence that my fellow trustees have placed in me, and look forward to serving as their chair for another term," says Chair Ron Motz. "Many of our board's current challenges, such as declining enrolment and excess pupil spaces, will persist in the year ahead. Trustees will continue to work cohesively, diligently and responsibly to address these challenges for the good of all our students."

"I thank my colleagues around the board table for allowing me to once again fulfill the vice-chair duties," says Vice-Chair Jan Johnstone. "It demonstrates that trustees value the importance of continuity as we move further along the course that we established through our strategic plan. This includes our focus on reducing empty pupil places, which provides opportunities for upgrades and new builds, enhanced programming opportunities for students, as well as creative community partnerships."
