SOUTHGATE – On Saturday, July 12, 2014 at about 11:45 p.m., the Grey County OPP received a report of an assault on Southgate Rd. 10 in the township of Southgate.
Officers who were patrolling the area during a Holstein Rodeo event were approached by a woman who reported that she had just been assaulted by another woman in an unprovoked attack. The 25-year-old victim, from Grey Highlands, suffered minor injuries to her face as a result of the assault.
The suspect was identified and arrested for assault.
Tiffany Lynne Marquardt, 24, of Minto Township, was charged with assault and resisting arrest. Alcohol was a factor.
She is scheduled to appear in Court in Owen Sound on Thursday, August 21, 2014.
Pickup truck tires slashed
Meantime, police continue to investigate after receiving a report of a vandalized pick-up truck that was parked at a designated campsite located on Southgate Road 49 in Southgate, also during the Holstein Rodeo.
On Sunday, July 13, 2014 at approximately 12:50 a.m., the victim called police after someone had slashed all four tires of his 1998 Dodge Ram pick-up truck while he was attending a concert at the rodeo. The vehicle's mirror was broken off and the hood ornament was removed as well.
Rodeo gate-crasher stuck in bush
Additionally, the OPP arrested a Walkerton man and charged him with trespassing after he tried to enter the rodeo grounds.
On Saturday, July 12, 2014, at approximately 11:47 p.m., OPP officers were on ATVs, patrolling the campgrounds at the rodeo, event when they were alerted to a bush where numerous people were attempting to get into the grounds without paying.
Police located the accused, who found himself stuck in the bushes. Alcohol was a factor.
Eric Alexander Elliott, 20, of Walkerton, Ontario was issued a Provincial Offence Notices for being intoxicated in a public place, and trespassing.
He was held at the Markdale OPP Detachment until sober.
