The intersection of 10th Street East and 4th Avenue was closed yesterday for about an hour after Owen Sound Police received a 9-1-1 call about a collision involving two vehicles.
Emergency services personnel responded to the call at 9:25 am, providing emergency medical assistance and immediately managed the dangers that the collision had caused. It is alleged that one driver made a left turn onto 4th Avenue from 10th Street into oncoming traffic causing a vehicle to strike it in the centre on one side of the vehicle. One of the vehicles spun out of control causing it to come to a rest on the sidewalk facing in the wrong direction.
The drivers of the vehicles sustained injuries that required medical treatment. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. It is estimated that both vehicles will be 'write-offs' as the damages were severe.
There were no pedestrians on the sidewalk at the time of the dramatic collision.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time. If you have any information about this collision, please contact Constable J. Hawke of the Owen Sound Police Service at 519-376-1234 ext 180.
