The Owen Sound Police Service have charged two Owen Sound men with Armed Robbery and Weapons offences for their involvement in robbing a local cab driver while armed with a baseball bat.
At approximately 11 :30 p.m on Wednesday March 29, 2017 the three men were picked up by a cab in the 1200 block of 1st Avenue West and asked to be taken to a residence on 3rd Avenue West. Once they were inside the cab, they were taken to the address and after a period of time, they returned to the original residence on 1st Avenue West.
After returning to the address, one of the accused pinned the cab driver's arms while the other went through his pockets. During the robbery one of the men pulled out a baseball bat and threatened that the victim would be struck on the head if he didn't cooperate. The robbers took all the paper money from the victim's wallet and also took all his coins.
The victim sustained no physical injury during the robbery.
On Thursday March 30, at approximately 11 :00 a.m, police executed a search warrant at the residence in the 1200 block of 1st Avenue West and arrested two of the three men without incident. A third suspect remains at large.
A 25 year old Owen Sound man is charged with :
1) Robbery while armed with an offensive weapon 2) Uttering threats 3) Possessing property obtained by crime 4) Weapons dangerous
A 48 year old Owen Sound man is also charged with the following offences :
1) Robbery while armed with an offensive weapon 2) Possessing property obtained by crime 3) Failing to comply with an order of probation
They will both appear before the Justice at 611 9th Avenue East on Friday March 31, 2017 at 10 :00 a.m. The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
