Local community organizations, including upper and lower tier municipalities, are once again being invited to attend Bluewater District School Board's Annual Community Planning and Partnerships meeting on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. The meeting, which will be held at the Bluewater District School Board Education Centre in Chesley beginning at 6:00 p.m., is also open to any members of the public who wish to come and observe.
Community Planning and Partnerships meetings are held once each year to encourage discussion and the exchange of ideas between Bluewater District School Board and interested community organizations regarding potential facility partnership opportunities. The Ministry of Education's Community Planning and Partnerships Guideline encourages school boards and potential community partners to share planning information regularly, which may lead to mutually beneficial opportunities to share school facilities. This includes new builds or renovations, and when considering the use of unoccupied school space and school properties that may be considered for future disposition.
"We look forward to welcoming our community stakeholders to the table once again for a productive discussion on potential partnership opportunities," says Superintendent of Business Services/Treasurer Rob Cummings. "Last year's meeting, which included several invited representatives from community organizations and municipalities, was a resounding success that led to further consultation between Bluewater District School Board and some of these guests."
Community organizations may indicate their interest in partnerships at any time by completing an "Application of Interest for Community Facility Partnership", which is available on the board website at www.bwdsb.on.ca/business/CPP. The web page also includes ongoing updates regarding any potential new school builds or significant renovations, as well as information on the availability of space in existing schools.
