A 19 year old Walkerton man has been charged with careless driving after he crashed his car into the eastern entrance gate pillar of Greenwood Cemetery.

Around 7:20 AM police responded to a report of the crash. The investigation found that the man had been driving southbound on 2nd Avenue East in his Mazda 3 sedan when he attempted a sudden turn into the cemetery. Instead he crashed into the fieldstone gate pillar. The crash caused the vehicle's air bags to deploy and it destroyed the pillar.

The man was not injured though the vehicle received heavy damage.
