The Vimy Flight with the same reproduction WW1 biplanes that flew in France during the 100th Anniversary of the Vimy Memorial will be visiting the Owen Sound Billy Bishop Regional Airport on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.
The Vimy Flight consists of World War One Nieuport II, Sopwith Pup and SE5 biplane replicas built to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Four of the planes flew over the Canadian Vimy Memorial ceremony in France on April 9, 2017.
The planes are now hopscotching across Canada including a visit to the Owen Sound airport named in honour of famed WW1 flying ace Billy Bishop. While in Owen Sound the Vimy Flight crew will be visiting the Billy Bishop Home and Museum. The planes will be on display from noon until 8:00 PM on July 12 and from noon until 3:30 PM on July 13. The public will have a chance to meet the pilots, learn about the aircraft flown during the First World War and watch a demonstration flight. www.vimyflight.ca
