On Thursday August 3, 2017 at 12:40 a.m., a Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police officer stopped a northbound, blue 2002 Volkswagen Golf that appeared to be operating above the speed limit on 6 Highway near Little Pike Bay Road, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula. The vehicle was locked in at 166 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone.

A 21-year-old driver from Mont-Laurier, Quebec, has been charged with race a motor vehicle. Police seized and impounded the vehicle for seven days and his driver's licence has been suspended for 7 days. He is scheduled to appear at the Owen Sound Court of Justice on August 28, 2017 to answer to the charge.
