The Grey Bruce Health Unit has completed the active surveillance phase of its investigation of potential exposure to Hepatitis B associated with Arseneault Foot Care Services.
This investigation is being undertaken in accordance with provincial protocols requiring that health units follow up on reports of potential lapses in infection control practices.
Initial results of blood testing of the individuals who came forward as a result of the public advisory issued on August 22, 2017 have not indicated that transmission of Hepatitis B occurred as a result of chiropody services provided by this operator.
However, testing of these individuals again in three months' time is required to complete the follow-up process. GBHU encourages these individuals to complete this follow-up testing in order to ensure they were not exposed.
In accordance with provincial requirements the report on the infection control lapse can be viewed on our website at: https://www.publichealthgreybruce.on.ca/Your-Health/Infectious-Diseases/IPAC-Investigations
