A property that was used as an example of vacant buildings attracting unwanted activity is getting new attention. Pictures were barrelposted last week on the OwenSoundHub and Facebook pages of a large hole in the roof of a shed beside the former Stan Brown Printers' building on 4th Ave E. Police warned a nearby neighbour, who had been in the habit of cutting through the property and past the city's adjacent empty courthouse to get to the nearest convenience store, that she should find another route and avoid the property.
After neighbours reported what appeared to be signs of someone living in the small outbuilding, it was removed.
Today Owen Sound Fire Services were called by another neighbour about a barrel of what smelled like solvent on the property. Fire Services confirm that there was no risk to the public when they left the scene. The barrel was gone at 6 this evening.

The property is owned by Barry Kruisselbrink of Barry's Construction.
