The Board of Health for the Grey Bruce Health Unit is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Christine Kennedy as Acting Associate Medical Officer of Health.
She will begin working with the Grey Bruce Health Unit on a part-time basis in
September while continuing as Regional Community Medicine Specialist - First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB), Ontario Region.
Dr. Kennedy has extensive experience in the practice of public health medicine including as a researcher and teacher, post-graduate clinical trainee, Senior Public Health Economist and consultant, Medical Officer of Health, as a Public Health Specialist for FNIHB - Alberta Region, and presently as the Regional Community Medicine Specialist for FNIHB - Ontario Region.
Her work as a public health clinician includes four years of rotations with Hastings &
Prince Edward Counties Health Unit, and Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health
Unit for training in Public Health Senior Management; and with the Public Health Agency of Canada; and various WHO expert committees 2004-07 and 2013.
Dr. Kennedy received her Medical Degree at the University of Calgary, May 2004. She completed postgraduate training in Family Medicine, CCFP, June 2006, at Queen's
University; where she also completed the Royal College Residency Training Program in Community Medicine. Dr. Kennedy is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
