On November 17, 2017 a member of the Ontario Provincial Police observed a 2017 Mitsubishi travelling at more than double the speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour (km/h), northbound on Highway 6 South of Ferndale. The vehicle continued through Ferndale's community safety zone of 60 km/h at more than double that speed limit. Police finally caught up to the vehicle and stopped it north of Ferndale.

The driver of the 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer, 20-year old Ryohei Noguchi of Welland, was arrested for Dangerous Driving under the Criminal Code of Canada.

The vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on November 29, 2017.
