Mayor Kevin Eccles and Council are pleased to announce Laura Johnston as West Grey's new Chief Administrative Officer/Deputy Clerk (CAO).
"Council and I are pleased to welcome Laura and excited to begin working with her," said Mayor Eccles. "Laura brings solid, practical experience and an enthusiastic, "can-do" approach which will serve us well as West Grey continues to grow."
Johnston holds an Executive Diploma in Municipal Management as well as a Masters Certificate in Municipal Leadership and brings diverse executive-level experience to West Grey. She has over three decades of leadership comprised of both private and public sectors. Most recently, she led the Town of Caledon's Strategic Initiatives department, overseeing Economic Development, Tourism & Culture, Communications & Creative Services, Corporate Partnerships & Events, and Corporate Projects. Johnston previously led Caledon's Parks & Recreation Department and the City of Kitchener's Corporate Communications Department.
"I am passionate about community building and excited about West Grey's future," said Johnston. "I look forward to working with Council and West Grey's talented and skilled staff as we continue supporting Council's priorities and serving the residents of this community."
Johnston will begin her new role as CAO effective December 4, 2017.
