New information has become known with regard to a dog-biting incident that occurred in Meaford. The victim has now identified the time of the occurrence as 7:45 pm., not noon, as previously described.
On Friday, July 6, 2018, at approximately 7:45 pm, a man was bitten by a large black male dog of unknown mixed breed. The dog was tied to a pole outside the Rexall Pharmacy, 54 North Sykes Street, Meaford. The dog was wearing a collar and leash and is believed to be with an adult male, possibly the owner.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit is seeking assistance from the public in finding the owner of a dog involved. Staff of the Grey Bruce Health Unit need to confirm the dog is not infectious with rabies. By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.
