The Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation’s Guardian Angel Campaign is underway. This year’s Guardian Angel Campaign is raising funds for a new MRI system. Our community is in need of a new MRI system, at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital, to serve patients across Grey and Bruce and beyond. The MRI system is used over 11,000 times per year to diagnose a range of medical conditions.

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Patients lay on a table that slides them into a very large magnet. With donor support, a new MRI system will provide a more spacious table and tunnel to accommodate larger patients, faster imaging to significantly reduce scan times, quieter tests so patients experience less noise, exceptional accuracy, new software for cardiac and prostate imaging, enhanced breast imaging for biopsy and detection and increased energy efficiency.

Through the Guardian Angel Campaign, the Foundation has set an ambitious goal to raise $400,000 towards the $4.7 million project.

“We are hoping the urgent need of an MRI inspires people to give this holiday season,” said Foundation Executive Director, Amy McKinnon. “Fourteen years ago the generous support of our community made the purchase of our first MRI possible. We are hoping our community will help again.”

Donations to the Guardian Angel Campaign are recognized on the Foundation’s Angel Trees and Honour Rolls located at Heritage Place Shopping Centre and in the lobby of the Owen Sound Regional Hospital.
