The arrest of two males in downtown Owen Sound Thursday afternoon, by members of the Owen Sound Police Service Drug Unit, resulted in the seizure of a prohibited firearm and illegal narcotics.
Detective Sergeant Jeff Fluney stated, "At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, Drug Enforcement Officers had been conducting an investigation into methamphetamine trafficking and weapons possession, and made an arrest of two males in the 900 block of 2nd Avenue East. Upon arrest, one male was found to be in possession of $2,200 worth of methamphetamine and $1,075 in cash. The knapsack in his possession contained $350 worth of marihuana and a loaded sawed-off shotgun. The second male was investigated at the scene and released unconditionally."
The arrested 44-year-old Owen Sound male complained of a medical condition so an ambulance was called to the scene and he was taken to the hospital for an examination; he was later released from the hospital and taken to the police station.

Seized from the residence was another sawed-off shotgun, a semi-automatic 9 mm handgun, ammunition for the firearms, a cross-bow, two prohibited knives, $1,000 of marihuana and a small amount of oxycodone, as well as some stolen property," said Fluney.
