opp-car-fullCOLLINGWOOD - Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the OPP charged a youth over the weekend for a theft of a poppy donation box from a local business in Collingwood.

On Saturday morning, the 8th of November 2014, police were called to attend the Tim Horton's on First Street in Collingwood for the reported theft. Police were able to view video surveillance in the store which led police to the identification and subsequent arrest of the youth. The donation box was located by a resident nearby and returned to the Royal Canadian Legion in Collingwood.

As a result, a 14 year-old youth from Collingwood is now charged with theft under $5000 and is to appear in Youth Criminal Court in Collingwood. He cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. (YCJA).
