Dr. Debbie Dyke on behalf of the Owen Sound Family Health Organization and Dr. Marc Newton, a local respirologist, are pleased to announce that they are launching a new technology to refer patients electronically to improve patient care and ensure no patient falls through the cracks.

Going forward, patients being referred from the Owen Sound FHO will be referred to Dr. Newton using the Ocean eReferral Network. This network enables physicians to seamlessly refer patients to specialists, allied health professionals and other health services directly from their Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Patients are kept fully in the loop throughout the referral process and best practices are incorporated directly into the forms which reduces the likelihood of inappropriate referrals right at the start.

Using eReferrals will lead to better care for patients being referred from Owen Sound FHO to Dr. Newton’s practice by keeping them informed, ensuring key information about their health is passed between the clinics in a safe and secure manner, and cutting down time to get an appointment confirmed.

The launch of this new technology will be held at a special luncheon reception at the Owen Sound FHO’s office.

The luncheon will feature a demonstration of the eReferrals solution as well as a discussion on how this technology enables better patient care.
