knife-fullOwen Sound - At approximately 7:30 pm police attended the 1000 block of 3rd Ave E in regards to a 21 year old Owen Sound man having a knife. The 21 year old man and his girlfriend were confronted by another male on the street in a chance meeting. The other male had an issue with the 21 year old man's girlfriend from a past incident and initiated a verbal argument with her. When it appeared that things might escalate, the 21 year old male pulled out a knife and displayed it in order to get the other man to back off. The other man fled and called police. Police located the culprit nearby at which time he was arrested. Investigation revealed that the knife could be opened by centrifugal force thus making it a prohibited weapon. There were no threats or assaults during the incident. The 21 year old male must now answer to charges of possessing a prohibited weapon and weapons dangerous. He was later released with conditions, and must attend court in mid December.
